Putting together an Easter basket for a baby is definitely a lot of fun for moms, but what’s worth buying and putting into the basket and what’s worth skipping when they barely even know what’s going on?? Read on and I’ll fill you in!
Us moms looove this holiday and all its cuteness with the spring vibes, chocolates, brunch foods and the totally unnecessary things we oggle at in Target like the adorable little pastel dish towels with bunnies on them…. but mostly we love it for the fun of sharing the sweetness of the holiday with our kids. We’ve all dreamt of finally having our moment to get all the adorable little springtime toys and goodies for our kids and assemble them into a cute Easter basket and getting all the nostalgic feelings from times when life was simpler.
Easter is a lot of fun to celebrate but it can totally get out of hand too! Especially if you’re also doing an egg hunt, getting everything you need to host a brunch and decorating your house for spring. Altogether it can get pretty expensive!
Not to mention that’s not even the true meaning behind the holiday itself BUT ANYWAY…..
I’m here to be the voice of reason and tell you that you do NOT need to go overboard with your baby’s Easter basket- seriously. And your wallet will thank you for it!
In my humble opinion, making an Easter basket for a baby is more to show your toddlers or older kids that the Easter bunny included their baby brother or sister in the fun. We didn’t even bother to do an Easter basket for our firstborn for his first Easter actually. But now that he has a baby sister, we are making a basket for both of them so he will see that she’s included too.
You also don’t need to spend a ton of money on some perfect aesthetic basket or personalized name tags if you don’t want to. Your baby isn’t old enough to have an opinion on it and your older kids probably wouldn’t even notice if you threw everything in an empty Amazon box.
What to Put in an Easter Basket
Here’s how you can make a totally great basket that doesn’t involve you spending your money on fluff and unnecessary junk- fill it mostly with items that they already needed and add in some fun items to round it out.
Assess what your baby will be needing soon. Summertime is coming up and you may not have the items they will need for that- like a sun hat or a swim suit. Getting ready to start new baby foods? Don’t have blocks to practice stacking with yet? You were going to buy those things anyway so make the most of it and fill your basket with those items!
You can even add in things you already have! Hear me out- we all buy little things here and there that we know our babies will eventually need and just stow them away in their closets, right? Perfect opportunity for the basket! For example, I had 2 sleepers in the next size up washed and ready for my daughter so I threw them in, along with a teether toothbrush I hadn’t given her yet. I did the same thing with her Christmas stocking!
At this point, if you want to, you can get some fun toys to add in or whatever you’d like to do.
After all, this holiday is the sweetest and I know you can’t resist.
